In California there are strict smog and emissions standards. The ideal swap would be a Tundra 4.7 or 5.7l V-8, but surprisingly those are too expensive with no warranty. The LS3 is a brand new package with a 3 year 50,000 mile warranty.
The LS3 EROD has an executive order from the State of California allowing enthusiasts to swap that motor into anything that has a VIN verification weight of 5,370lbs. In the Land Cruiser world that includes the FJ40, FJ60, and FJ62. Sorry FZJ80 fans, as of January 2022 they dropped the weight class which excluded the 80 series from this executive order.
